Located in the Sidikalang region of North Sumatra, West of the volcanic Lake Toba and on high altitude lands on the equator belt, the Wahana Estate produces one of the most remarkable coffees in Asia. Established in the year 2005, this area is one of the most popular coffee producing regions in Indonesia.
Wahana Estate plantation spans across area of 468 Ha. Geographically, Wahana Estate has 250 Ha for coffee plantations, 30 Ha for coffee nursery, 10 Ha for coffee processing facilities (mills), 100 Ha for Natural Reserve and the remaining area for growing vegetables, composting factory, worker facilities, other facilities and guest houses.
To achieve its high quality, the coffee cherries are only picked when ripe, and dried until they resemble raisins. This process ensures that the natural fruitiness and sweetness characters are infused into the beans during the fermentation process and enhanced in the cup.
Really interesting cup here, with a rich, almost boozy body happening, with some tropical sweetness and fruit acidity coming through on the finish. Great as a black, rich and intriguing with milk.
